PHOTOS: Why Worry About Frostbite - Take A Look!

Why is it necessary to completely cover your extremities in weather like what wwe're experiencing today? To avoid Frostbite.  Frostbite, by definition, is "destruction of tissues, esp those of the fingers, ears, toes, and nose, by freezing, characterized by tingling, blister formation, and gangrene." (world english dictionary)

Frostbitten  areas of your skin can become red and very painful and you can lose all sensation in the affected areas. Tissue can become discolored and die. You could suffer damage to tendons, muscles, nerves and bone.  It could become so bad that the only solution would be amputation.
